Are there any guideline or formulas for sizing expansion loops? Perhaps based on the line size and thermal growth? I'm looking to add loops to a 2" tubing steam line and would like to come up with a consistant loop size. I've always used square loops and I'm considering a 30" square loop for absorbing about 1" of thermal movement. In the analysis I would check for uplift on supports and excessive anchor loads forcing the loop. Any tips? Would it be better to use one large loop in the center of the run or multiple smaller loops with anchors in between?
