When inserting a 1/2" od x .065" wall nozzle into a shell wall(.140"), using ASME section VIII div 1 figure UW16.1 (W-1). This figure isn't in your popup fields so I leave it blank. Because of this figure,(W-1),I don't use area 1 and 2 in the reinforcement cal's. The weld size of 1/8" pass with this information, as far as all three of the failure paths requirements.
If I don't turn off areas 1 and 2, the weld size of 1/4" is required to pass all of the all three of the failure paths requirements.
Note the requirement of the ASME code states that the nozzle material can't be counted in the reinforcement cal's. I assumed because of the exterior weld was the only support for the nozzle, this would be the only reinforcement that would count towards Total area available, so that is why I turned off areas 1 and 2. This also seems to effect the all three of the failure paths requirements.
Is this the true intent of your program to work this way, or have I miss the boat on the issue.
