Think about it - how are they going to make solar panels, wind turbines, etc. without synthetics for lubricants, electrical and thermal insulation? Move product from factory to site? Mine the raw materials? Refine them? If everything goes to electric (lets say, fission or even fusion generation) that's going to be a lot of metal for transmission wires alone. Try refining that with a wind farm.

Not certain what your roads are paved with, we use asphalt - not good intentions. Three guesses where the former comes from.

Not everyone lives in the tropics either. Try using solar panels up North (or south, but not much land mass down there) in December when you *need* heating.
