Further to my previous post, the advice given will just prevent one user from stepping on another with regards to the CAESAR II communication files. The software itself should have prevented the 2nd user from trashing the file. Multiple users can open a file for reading, but only the first has "write access" - at least that is the way the code is written.

What kind of network is this and what Operating System is in use on the two workstations?
