Hi all:

I have a 36, STD wall inch water filled pipe sitting on a rack - supported every 2 m. I am not worried about deflection or bending stress in the pipe. Each support would be taking approx 1700 kg (3750 lbs). The concern is a point load on the membrane of the pipe as the pipe is directly sitting on steel (no saddles to distribute the load).

Is the local stress due to a point load something I need to be concerned with ? The worst case scenario in this is the shutdown when pressure doesn't counteract the compressive load. How would I evaluate/ qualify this situation?

I would appreciate any feedback/ suggestions related to this. I dont have FE Pipe/Nozzle Pro available.

Thanks
