1. No anchors blocks are required for welded underground piping (as opposed to say bell and spigot joints) to keep the piping from pulling itself apart. You may still need to consider anchor blocks or other measures depending on layout to keep displacements under control at certain locations.

2. Expansion loops are generally not used on buried pipelines. Design of long buried pipelines needs to consider lateral stability and compressive stresses due to soil restraint of axial thermal expansion.
