The spring will take the designed load based on the spring rate & thermal movement & preset/installed load.

What you do while designing spring using "free restraint at node" option is instructing Caesar to design spring considering no restraint at that particular node (which means this extra load will now be carried by the spring).

The spring designed this way will be different from what the Caesar selects normally (presuming that the spring is not in the vicinity of the node to be freed).By this mean , I mean there may be a change of spring rate &/or installed load. You can check this by using the spring selected using free node as "user defined " spring. It will yield more or less same results as the earlier one.

Spring will behave the way (no doubts in it, provided things are done at site as per design) it is intended to unless there are not too many vagaries at site.
