You don't really duplicate around a point. You're duplicating a group of elements. The resulting set of elements (both original and duplicated) may or may not be connected - depending on the node numbers and the node increment you used for the duplcate operation. If the two sets of elements are not connected, they will both plot starting at the plot origin, which is the first node in the model. (This is why it may appear the duplication was about some undesired point.) When this happens, you typically need to change one node number in the duplicated set of elements to reconnect the model.

I could not find a tutorial that didn't work. Can you provide the exact name so I can verify this?
