Hi Alamu,

The following reply is from Mr. Delaforce.

The Megyesy book on tank design is for open top tanks filled with water or some other liquid. It is not very helpful in you want to design a rectangular pressure vessel.

Our programme CodeCalc can design rectangular tanks, covering all the various designs in ASME Division 1, Appendix 13. It can analyze any stiffener ribs you have on the vessel.

You simply enter the dimensions of the vessel and stiffeners, and CodeCalc will perform the analysis with the click of the mouse. Where over stress is encountered, you can quickly make any adjustments to the design. The sizes you mentioned can be analyzed quite easily.

If you would like further information, you can email Ray Delaforce at techsupport@coade.com and he will give you any further information that will help you through this process.
