Yes, CAESAR II is Windows 2000 compatible. Most of the development staff at COADE is now using Windows 2000.

The only issues we have are related to 3rd party software, as follows:
  • If the user does not have administrator rights during installation, they get an error 432, which states:

"Error Message: Setup has detected that unInstallShield is in use. Please close unInstallShield and restart setup. "

This error appears even when un-InstallShield is not running. If the user logs in as admin of the machine, the error will not come up. In Windows NT 4.00, a dialog would come up that says you do not have admin privileges.
  • Two utilities provided by Aladdin do not work with Windows 2000.

    ..\ASSIDRV\MONITOR\MONITOR.EXE
    ..\ASSIDRV\HASPDIAG\HASPDIAG.EXE

HASPDIAG.EXE comes up with a dialog that says it will not work with NT 5.0. MONITOR.EXE just locks up.

Neither of these issues is insurmountable. You need "admin" privileges for most installs anyway. The HASP issues are only encountered during diagnostics, if you have a problem with the hardware lock.
