Dear all
We are working for revamping of lube-oil terminal. We will introduce number of gear pump as per Api 676. I checked existing pump suction & discharge supporting & found that just after first elbow very close to nozzle they put anchor support.
Since Api 676 allowable is even less that Api 610 I know there will be big problem in stress analysis. The existing plant is quite old one & I can not trace how old stress analysis was performed.
Do we require more care for gear pump that centrifugal pump in terms of vibration issue ?
I already have bad experience on gear pump previously we try to follow existing routing & supporting ( one spring support ) and finally found new pump discharge line produce more vibration than the existing one. Fortunately vibration was still within allowable limit.
Presently We have revamp LSTK project so I must consider cost criteria also during design.
Any suggestion/guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Habib
