Comparing WRC 107/297 results with FE results can also be extended to the implementation of the ASME Sec VIII Div2 stress requirements using FE analysis. The concept of membrane and bending stresses is easy to implement with Plate and Shell elements , but using 3D Finite element analysis the concept of linearization is not simple and debatable. To add to it,some of the ASME requirements are itself a matter of debate in the design community for a long time.

I fully agree with Mr. Richard Ay that it is the job of individual or sponsored researchers to do find out these answers and the subsequent revisions of the existing standards or new standards can be implemented by COADE.
