Query 1) No, 1000 msec is not a default. In the dynamic input, on the Control Parameters tab, there is an option for the "Number of Time History Load Cases". This entry is actually the number of snap shots you want of the simulation. For each snap shot there will be a complete set of reports (displacements, forces, restraint loads, and stresses). Typically, you want only the maximum results, so these snap shots are not usually reviewed. Most people just request 1 load case, adn the time is the ending time of the simulation. If you have something else going on, please e-mail me the following files so I can determine what the problem is: (_A, _J, _7)

Query 2) True. The results from any of the snap shot cases will usually be less than the Max case. This Max case reports the maximum response during the entire simulation. Usually, this is the only case you need to review, unless you're particularly interested in something at a particular time step.

Query 3) Use the Max case.

Query 4) Yes this makes sense considering items 1 and 2 above. The only issue I question is your time of 1000 msec. If your duration was only 900, I don't see how the output could report anything at 1000. I'd really like to see your input files. Send them to ray@coade.com.
