Has anyone moved a CadWorks file to Revit or from Revit to CadWorks?

In Revit I can link to an AutoCAD file (similar to an X-Ref)and any 3D data will show so I think I can simply link to the CadWork DWG file and it will show in Revit. Can anybody verify if that will work?

From Revit to CadWorks might be a bit trickier. Has anybody ever done this? I can export models in several formats but I am not sure what CadWorks can import. Anybody have any help?

Can Revit export to CIS/2 ? I am not sure, try some of the other options from the SIMPORT command.

The two programs are so different I am having a hard time seeing *what* exactly would be translated? Revit is building design software; CADWorx Plant is process piping design software.

In Revit you can export to AutoCAD. If you have the right object enabler installed in CADWorx (I think MEP) you can view the objects). However, the CADWorx 2D rep command doesn't always work on custom objects, so I recommand exporting to dumb solids which will print/2d rep correctly. If Revit has a CIS/2 export, that would be the best way to go.

Depends on the version of Revit, you get Revit Building and also Revit Structure which I believe the user is talking about.

Personally I would use an AutoCAD based structural modelling and detailing system should the CADWorx steel module not meet your requirements.

Ah, right - Revit Structural. Elephant gun for rodent control where process facilities are concerned.

Revit structure to me is not all that impressive. I have only heard good things about this package.

You could always use CADWorx design review to bring them all together
Revit has the capability to use DWG and Export to DWG, if you are using AutoCAD as your base then it should be simple, however the intelligents from Revit will not follow through into CADWorx, but from CADWorx into Revit it should retain.

Another Option would be to use Navisworks, which is designed for this exact problem
