I have several viewports on a paperspace dwg that I need the centerlines of pipe to show. When I do a 2D rep and select only centerlines I get the centerlines but have to go thru and break them out around objects in the background and other pipes. Is there some way to make those lines break out or do I have to do a 2D rep of everything to get this to break out. The issue is only for review and comment at this time. Is it normal to do a full 2D rep of everything and then delete and do another 2D rep. What is the normal way for getting my views on the paperspace dwgs.

I don't know if this answers you question or not but we draw everything in 3d and then for the orthos we will draw our centerlines and dims in paperspace. Its a little tedious, but effective. We also use wipeouts on cluttered areas. As far as using 2d rep and getting the cls to break automatically I don't think that has been built into the software.

All centrelines get shown, even if they are hidden. We do something similar to Devin and leave our paperspave VP's live and hidden. If we need CL's, we rep the CL's and clean them up.

A nice express tool to use is OVERKILL. It will remove lines under lines and join ones that are connected. This might help when you have to trim lines since every pipe and fitting gets a CL.

Rod or Devin,

Could either of you send me a PDF of the output you get once you massage your vport?

+1 with what Rod said. We shade the viewport to plot hidden and then 2DREP the Cl's only.

That way the Viewport is always live and new pipes in the model just require a 2DREP of those components.
