Anyone having issues with valves or weldneck flanges revolving in CADWorx Plant? Usually happens at an angle, say 15 degrees, error says, unable to revolve. UCS object is set. Valves draw fine at 0,90,180,270 degrees?

Elliot,

I had the same problem a while ago, and it was that my graphics were too far from the Acad 0,0,0 origen. I was working with Coordinates and they were booko far for the Acad origen. Try getting your graphics closer to the 0,0,0.
Acad has this problem revolving fittings or items when real far from the 0,0,0.

You can bring it closer to the origin by moving the origin when you draw. Try using ucs object, that way you can get the right orientation as well.

Origin is in World... moving the UCS closer doesnt make the origin any closer. It is still at 0,0,0 in World.

This post from Vanman 5/15/07 Titled Cadworx Error

---------------------------------------
check out CADWorx error 2012

The piping coordinates which the previous function tried to use are beyond the limits allowed by CADWorx and AutoCAD. The solution to this problem is to draw the piping system closer to a 0,0,0 coordinate. If this is an existing piping drawing, move it closer to 0,0,0 and then mode convert. You must mode convert the drawing to re-create the coordinate data stored within the components after a move. If you have any bolts in the system, erase them before you move the system. Bolts can be re-inserted into the system with the AUTOBOLT command.

CADWorx coordinate limits are -9,000,000 to 99,000,000 units (negative nine million to positive ninety nine million units)

In imperial coordinates, the limit is approximately: -750,000 feet to 8,250,000 feet (negative seven hundred fifty thousand feet to positive eight million two hundred fifty thousand feet)

In metric coordinates, the limit is -900,000 meters to 9,900,000 meters (negative nine hundred thousand meters to positive nine million nine hundred thousand meters)

Elliot, I'm with LMP. Move closer to origin. If you can't move the model closer because of other xref's or whatever from other depts. draw the valve only closer to 0,0,0 and then use the Autocad align command to reposition.

Elliott,

Could you post examples of the coordinates you are working at?

Not sure if this relates or not but I had issues in the past with CADWorx 2006-2007 when drawing elbows when the ucs was at non-typical angles. I know it use to be a bug in the program. I would have to draw the elbow, then rotate it to the angle the straight runs of pipe was in. If moving the valve closer to the origin doesn't work... this may be this culprit.

Hey Elliott, Now you know what to do and I learnt how to spell origin.

I've reset my AutoCAD limits.

If this doesn't work going into paperspace, make a view and go into the viewport and redo it.

I've had the problems several times as wel - - but only if my elbow, valve, flange, etc. is at an odd angle.
The fastest solution for me is to draw the component at 0, 45, 90, etc. and then just rotate the part so it matches the angle I need - - like kather above me does.
Kind of a pain when you have a whole leg to draw, but it works.

The issue does not seem to occur with AutoCAD 2010 (see information below)

---------------------------------------
Problem: Unable to revolve the selected object error at the AutoCAD command line.

There is an issue with the AutoCAD 2007, AutoCAD 2008, and AutoCAD 2009 REVOLVE command (see AutoCAD2009.avi in attached ZIP file). CADWorx calls AutoCAD commands (in background) to generate AutoCAD shapes used to represent CADWorx components. If AutoCAD has an issue generating the shape, CADWorx will not be able to create the shape (see CW-Revolve-AutoCAD2009.avi in attached ZIP file).

Solution: This issue does not seem to occur in AutoCAD 2010 (AutoCAD2010.avi and CW-Revolve-AutoCAD2010.avi in attached ZIP file)

I am currently working on a project that is mostly sloped flanged pipe and fittings. Using AutoCAD R2010 and CADWorx Plant 2010, the flanged pipe sections will not revolve correctly. I have to manually move these components to 0,0,0, run the convert solid command and then move them back.

one thing I've done...I think Vanman may have suggested this originally...draw the object at 90, set your ucs to the slope, and use the 3DAlign command. Even with flanged pipe, I use the router line to get the slope in and then move the. Also, I think sometimes if you set the UCS XY plane in the same plane as the slope, it may revolve.

Again, and old AutoCAD error, perhaps they've fixed it in some scenarios, but not in all.
