Hi :),

We have a HP pumping system (6000 Psig discharge pr). Installing these pumps in nearby with common discharge header. We have the following details from the manufacturer regarding the pump vibration.

1. Pressure variation + or - 13 Bar
2. Pump unit frequency 2.5 to 25 Hz
3. Maximum disch. flange displacement + or - 1.5 mm in all planes

Nozzle allowable loads are recommended to consider as per API 610, but it is not a centrifugal pump (Reciprocating).

We did a static analysis considering the nozzles as anchor point and getting the loads on disch nozzle is bit high than recommended as per API 610.

My doubt is as follows.

For static analysis whether we have to consider the nozzle initial displacement as recommended by supplier (+ or - 1.5mm)

Is it required to do the dynamic analysis. If so pls suggest some reference.

Allowable load verification as per API 610 is OK?

Vendor's recommended value for nozzle displacements should be followed and this is recommended in WRC Bulletin 449 also.

For dynamic analysis of systems connected to reciprocating equipments, CAESAR's help manuals provide adequate references but keep in mind that flow induced vibrations and acoustic vibrations are issues cannot be exactly simulated in a pipe stress program.

If vendor is ok with API 610 vales, what is the problem?

Hi,

Displacement in the nozzle is given as + or - 1.5mm in all planes. For static analysis how can we consider the initial displacement of nozzle.
