We have performed preliminary testing of COADE software using Microsoft Vista. Our testing indicates that we don't expect to have problems with CAESAR II (or any other COADE software) under Vista. If there are problems with Vista, it will be with items not directly under our control (such as the HASP driver, or WORD, or ODBC, or ISOGEN, etc).

Here is what has been tested:

Vista Ultimate

CAESAR II
The CAESAR II 070122 CD was successfully installed. The only slight issue was an Aladdin HASP (warning) dialog that displayed behind the Installation Dialog. The installation stopped until the [ok] button on this dialog was clicked.

CAESAR II items tested consisted of these items:

- installation
- Configuration Module
- ESL access
- CRC check
- static analysis
- dynamic analysis
- output to WORD (Office 2007)
- the Material Database Editor
- "help"
- export to ISOGEN

This is not a complete test of the software, but it does show that all main-stream functions work as anticipated.

PVElite
The program installed and ran fine. The only issue seems to be with the CodeCalc graphics. For some reason they show up as a black box. The testing was very brief.

TANK
The TANK 060324 CD was successfully installed. The only slight issue was an Aladdin HASP (warning) dialog that displayed behind the Installation Dialog. The installation stopped until the [ok] button on this dialog was clicked.

TANK items tested consisted of these items:

- installation
- ESL access
- analysis
- output to WORD (Office 2007)
- "help"
- graphics

This is not a complete test of the software, testing will continue.

Vista Enterprise

CAESAR II
An Alpha CD with CAESAR II Version 5.10 was successfully installed. Only the piping input module was tested here. This was not a very complete test, the installation of the software had a few DLL problems, and there were the dreaded permission isuses with Vista itself.

As more tests are performed, this Post will be updated.

That's good news, thanks.
By the way, the HASP dialog hiding behind the install dialog is common with the 5.00 install on XP Pro also.

CADWorx

Autodesk has not officially added support for Windows Vista for AutoCAD 2004, AutoCAD 2005, AutoCAD 2006 and AutoCAD 2007. Since CADWorx is an AutoCAD based application, COADE also has not officially added support for Windows Vista.

http://autodesk.blogs.com/between_the_lines/2007/02/autocad_and_aut.html

Microsoft has created several editions of Vista in 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

COADE is currently testing CADWorx 2007 on AutoCAD 2007 with Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). COADE has not found any significant issues with this combination. COADE has not tested any other combinations of CADWorx, AutoCAD, or Windows Vista.

Do we have customers running Vista already in combination with CII/PVE or Tank?

Shell is testing Vista now, but it could take a while to implement it in such an organisation.

Vista Update

There is a potential installation problem with Windows Vista. If certain Microsoft Merge modules are not already on the target machine, installation actions can fail. This problem is discussed here:

http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2007/05/20/2760317.aspx

We are working on resolving this issue, but at this time, we don't have a solution.
