Hello,

We use a directory-managed system for deploying software and our policy is to package or script all software for deployment - manual installs are avoided at all costs. Does anyone have a scripted install method for Caesar II v5.00?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have the program installed someplace, check the User's Guide, Chapter 2, page 13. Details on the Silent Install option are explained here.

Thanks for the info. The setup works until an Aladdin HASP HL Device Driver Installation Utility window pops up with the various mandatory and optional switches. Is this to be expected? If so, then it isn't silent!

Stephen,

Nope it shouldn't be doing that - it should be silent all the way.

I started again with a clean PC and the issue is now that the ESL driver setup complains that it requires Administrator access. The way we do things, it runs with a system account and that approach is generally quite successful. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your help so far.

The installation needs to load "system level" drivers and register DLLs. You need "admin" rights on the machine. There is no way around this.

Actually, a system-level account normally works. The ESL driver setup is not programmed correctly to understand that it does have the required access.

I have done a complete package capture of the ESL and Caesar II install in Wise and that package is now working fine with no installation issues.

Thanks for your time.

When you say "The ESL driver setup is not programmed correctly to understand that it does have the required access", what exactly are you referring to? Are you running the "Install ESL Driver" option from the CD menu? If so, this shouldn't be necessary.

The primary installation routine also installs the (local) ESL drivers. The "Install ESL Driver" option on the CD menu is there solely for later use if necessary.

An error message appeared during the 'silent install' a.k.a. primary installation.

Did you try it with "admin rights"? (This has worked for many people over the last year.)
