Hello everyone, firstly, I have really enjoyed reading the forum and I have learnt a lot from browsing and searching since I joined last year. Secondly, a year and a half ago "the_dude" seemed like a good user name... Anyway, all up I've had about 6-7 months of continuous and consistent pipe stressing work, and hopefully I will continue to get opportunities to improve my pipe stressing in the future.
I have a question about loads caused by fluid exiting pipe outlets. I have a model with a water line that empties into a storage tank, there is a 90 deg elbow about 1.5m upstream of the vertical outlet. The outlet is not connected to the tank, it is 'floating', but supported. How does one determine the loads caused by the water flow exiting to atmosphere? I have a PSV calc sheet which I was thinking of using as a guide. Does anyone have any better suggestions.
Apologies if this has been asked before, I did a search but was unable to find anything. And I realise this is not specifically a Caesar II question, but there are a lot of experienced stress engineers here and I thought this might be a good place to start asking!
Cheers.
