For small bore/non critical lines we many times don't go in for computer analysis, rather clear these lines based on visual inspection , which includes support check as per support span ( for dead wt. ), flexibility check based on Code equation/guided cantilever etc.

I want to know if there are some hand calc.methods which include the effects of wind and earthquake and givesa go-no go for such non critical systems and if so, where can I find the relevant information.

Dear,

You noted it after 10 years!

Anyway, there exist restraint spans for seismic / wind loads, too similar to the same available for deadweight available in table 121.5 in ASME B31.1.

One such is available in seismic design and retrofit of piping systems July 2002 pp 10-11 for seismic stress limited to 0.5 times Sy at operating temperature.

regards

sam
