Hi,

How can I populate the drawing frame's block attributes with pipe, project or BOM attributes?

I already know how to place project attributes as simple texts in the drawing frame, but I want Isogen to place them in block attributes.

Any one solved this?

Thanks

This is only possible in 2017 and 2018. Each version in there was improved upon slightly. There are some basic instructions on the help file.

There were also two excellent HCAS webinars on this earlier this year to show how to do this.

Thank you! (BTW, I watched the first webinar. I'm not sure that it is possible to map BOM to DWG blocks.)

Hey Matt, what are HCAS webinars? I am interested in how to make Isogen populate AutoCAD block attributes.
Thanks

Perfect, thanks. I got it set up (I think) but it's not returning my value from my Excel file. The log file says:

Unexpected error in ExecuteNodeCollection.GetRecord : No value given for one or more required parameters.

Have you seen this before?

Scratch that - I figured it out, didn't have the single quotes around the pipeline reference in the SQL statement.

I know this is an older post but I am hoping someone will be able to help out with some issues I am having on this topic. I am trying to get isogen set up to bring in the pipeline reference information (design temp, pressures, etc) from an excel file directly into the title block attributes instead of our previous method of using position text from a .csv file. I watched the videos from the links above that were extremely helpful. I have got everything set up where it is taking the default value that I set in i-configure and writing it to the attribute in the title block. I have the PODGRAPHICS-CONFIG-FILE set in i-configure and I think it is working correctly as it is creating the log file and the log file does have the attribute mapping from the GED file. However it is not overwriting the default value with the value from the excel file and the log file gives me the following error: *** Error: No connection to the datasource. I think my problem is in the GED.xml file. In the video the presenter made the comment that he thought a template file for that file would be made available. I am hoping that someone has that template file or a file they are using to do a similar function that I can compare to the file I created to see what I am doing wrong. Any help you guys can provide is greatly appreciated.

For the Excel file, that you are using do you :

1. Have a named range defined?
2. Is the file extension .XLS or XLSX ?

I would be happy to send you the template XML files.

Thanks for the offer Vanman. I actually already got the template file from one of the guys at hexagon and it is working fine now.

I've spent 2 whole days to figure out how to populate autocad block attributes from xsl file. I am using cadworx2020r2 and I follow all the steps in the video and applied all the suggestions here but still not working. If I open 'dedug.log'file, it looks ok as below.

--------------------------------------------------------------
*** PODTools Version : 4.0.0.69 ***
*** Current user: ICDASIAPACIFIC\JoungS on Machine: WPC-312
*** GetExternalData command started at 29/04/2022 2:36:47 PM ***
*** Executing command from "C:\Project_IConfigure\ProjSTD_IConfigure\11198\Data\PODProcessorSettings.xml"
*** Processing POD: ""
Migrating GED script from Version 3.0 to Version 4.0
*** Diagnostic level: Normal
Processing initialisation file "C:\CADWorx 2020 R2\Plant\Isogen\I-Configure\Core Components\PODTools.xml"
Getting external data for pipeline with Name="50-PW-0050-G1"

>>> Processing PIPELINE commands:

EXECUTE tag(0) Pipeline: 50-PW-0050-G1
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE101) set to "50"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE102) set to "PW"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE103) set to "0050"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE104) set to "G1"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE105) set to "XXXX"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE106) set to "XX"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE107) set to "10% RT"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE108) set to "10% MT"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE109) set to "WATER"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE110) set to "XXX Kpa(g)"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE111) set to "P-1002"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE112) set to "P-1015"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE113) set to "PIDX"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE114) set to "CLEAN"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE115) set to "X"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE116) set to "XX"
* Attributes(ATTRIBUTE117) set to "U/G POTABLE WATER LINE FROM THE EXISTING PW LINE"
*** GetExternalData command completed at 29/04/2022 2:36:48 PM ***

------------------------------------------------------------------------

But each time when IGO run, the cadworx freeze about 5 min. and generate isometric drawing but 0kb and can't open.
I follow everything but I don't know what I am missing? In cadworx2020, should I do a bit different way?
I will be much appreciated if someone find out what is wrong.
Thanks.

There is still an issue with GED that needs resolved with 2020r2.

Thanks for your comment Matt.
I spent 3 days to figure out what did I do wrong. -.-
It was a bug.
So do I need to use old version of populating data on isometric drawing from ATT file? Or is there any other way to connect CAD block with external xls file?
Thanks.

I've been using the old method. Haven't heard an ETA yet on a fix.

Another route is to try ISOWorx. Setup is much easier to accomplish, simply put the name of the attribute in the excel column at row 1 and we will find the matching attribute in the iso.

What exactly is the issue ?

The initial release of 2020 R2 did have a problem with GED/POD but it was fixed SP1 for 2020 R2. I recall SP1 was released sometime in February this year if not mistaken.

The fix for GED / POD Processor was made available with SP1 for 2020 R2. I recall SP1 was released sometime in February this year.

This sounds like you need to install SP1 for 2020 R2.

I did install and didn't work. There is also 2nd version of the SP1. That didn't work either.
I just know they sent it to the ISOGEN team and they confirmed an issue. But that was like 2 months ago.

What exactly is not working on your end ? All my PGP styles are working with SP1, so it could be something specific to your style.

If you are allowed to share the style would be happy to take a look.

support found an issue with a DLL.
Previously, when I would run an iso and it did not find a match in the spreadsheet, it would put the default attributes from ISOGENPROJECTDATASETUP in the titleblock. That is not happening anymore. Something is getting lost between ISOGEN attributes and backing sheet attributes is my guess.
