Does the BomBoltControl setting affect the Export BOM? I know it impacts Isogen. I'm trying to get the bolts formatting on the Excel output to have the bolt set(for example, (8)) as it appears in the long description in the model.

Bolt Control for the non Isogen BOM moved to the BOM Setup.

Thanks Vanman. I do have a couple of follow-up questions.

We are running 2019 SP3. Do you know when that level of control went there? Was there a way of controlling that prior to the release you are running?

For 2019 its in the same location.

Older versions used the BomBoltControl for both Isogen and the regular BOM.

I did a test with 4 different cfg files each having a different BomBoltControl value: 0 1 2 and 3. I ran four different BOM reports with an apply and close of each config file and got the same results.

The Export BOM report has:

5/8" STUD BOLTS CL 600 RF ASTM A193 GR B7 ZINC OR CADMIUM PLATED W2 ASTM A194 Gr 2H HEAVY HEX NUTS ZINC OR CADMIUM PLATED

Isogen description (the preferred style) output has:

(8) STUD BOLTS CL 600 RF ASTM A193 GR B7 ZINC OR CADMIUM PLATED W2 ASTM A194 Gr 2H HEAVY HEX NUTS ZINC OR CADMIUM PLATED (4 1/4" LG)

Looking for hints on how to get where I would like to be on this.

2019 Bolt Control for Export BOM in the picture below.

I believe pre 2019 versions BOMBoltControl was used for both the Export BOM and Isogen.

In the newer version BOMBoltControl has been renamed to IsogenBoltControl.

Vanman,

The menu I have does not look like that. What does the [Pipe BOM] cfg file look like in that area?

What Version are you using ? If your menu is not looking like that possibly you are using 2018 or earlier ?

With 2019 the BOM Settings were moved to XML file contained in the \system Directory.

If you run the BOMSETUP command, this will bring up the menus as in the previous posts. If you are going to edit the XML directly, I would recommend making a backup.

Should probably hold off on that. There's no way a "bad install" would have that result.

How are you calling the BOM setup?

Either via the button or the "BOMSETUP" command.

Try BOMSETUP > Settings.
