Hello CII users!!

Why does the allowable load multiplier for API 617 & NEMA SM23 is restricted to 2 in Caesar II 2019? I am planning to use 3 times API 617.

Thanks,

What paragraph in those Standards discusses multipliers greater than 2.0?

Hi Richard,

Nothing mentioned in the standard. But a compressor vendor agreed to our proposal to use 3 x API 617 based on our piping configuration. Anyway, I have an excel file for this & I can change the factor to 3 there. It would be nice if it can be done for Caesar 2019 for reporting purposes.

Thanks & Warm Regards,

Please file an SR and request this new ability (and make sure you site the reference to the compressor vendor). We can put this in the backlog for a future version.

Hello Richard ,
As mentioned by Borzki,In our present and past project reputed vendor offered allowable load multiplier 3 or more than 3.
In old Caesar Versions the load multiplier 3 or more than 3 was taken into the account.
So in Caesar 2019 it is not possible to use allowable load multiplier 3 or more than 3 for API 617/NEMA SM 23.

Dear Borzki , will you be kind to share the excel , Thanks in advance.

Dear Borzki ,

We tried API 617 combine check utility in Caesar 2018. And called forces from Caesar 2019 in it . Forces of Caesar file in 2019 version are getting patched , reflected in utility of 2018.

This way we can use allowable load multiplier 3 or more.

Thank you

Dear CII Experts ,

When using CII 2019 Nema-SM23 module and increase load multiplier (factor =2.0 per vendor's data) to check combined loads , CII always show such message "Factor has been reset to 1.0 for calculations" .

Does it mean no more factor greater than 1.0 be used in CII 2019 or any hotfix version shall be installed?

Thanks & Regards,

Hello......if you have Caesar II 2018..You can run the NEMA SM23 there while getting the force/moment results in Caesar II 2019.. This is the work around I have done...

Cheers!!

Hi Borzki,

Thanks for your advice and we did this way to solve combined load issue.
It is just curious that no more issues be found in old versions
However, while it was already to be installed all Hot fix and SP files to update CII 2019 , the multiple factor still reset to 1.0 in Nema Sm23 module and can not be changed . Does anybody find the same issue in your CIi 2019?
