Dear Experts,

Please explain me what is the criteria for applying the wind load for piping.

Either size based or height based. One document I found that 24" above with open area need to apply wind. Is this concept is correct?

If correct is this concept is written in any code?

1. What the local laws says goes first.
2. Client specifications goes second.
3. Engineering firm specifications goes third.
4. Sometimes, "the most conservative applies."

ASCE-07 specifies how ASCE recommends to do it in the US.
