The goal of creating reports such as line lists, etc is something I would like to make a reality within a smaller cadre of engineers in my support department at the plant. I understand P&D reporting is less than what it could be with "out of the box" CADWorx P&ID. At least that is the takeaway in a 2013 vintage online comment by a former CADWorx support person. (You probably know who he is.)

The 2019 release is used as a point of reference for the questions below as follows:

Have there been improvements in reporting capabilities in the last five years or so?

What are the WISHLIST items that you would like to see?

Is the report setup process do-able without taking great pains in 2019?

Can anyone compare report generation using CADWorx P&ID versus AutoCAD Plant 3D specifically?

Thanks!

The reporting capabilities from PID has always been a DB function. You can get a basic dump to excel directly form the PID application, but requires some cleanup.

Hi Clint,
As Vanman pointed out, the best way to get data from the PIDs is through a database. After determining what reports you want, you then need to ensure your database tracks that information. From there, running the data through SOCKETWorx allows you to keep a holistic view of the project as well as report on the data from your PID's.

In the end, reports are useless if you don't track the info. Make sure you set your projects up properly to get the data you would like.

I now understand what is required. As I proceed to set up capabilities within CADWorx such as process data storage and retrieval via a database (MS Access for now) never experienced in my company, I may have further questions.
