Hello Stressers,

How does Caesar II considers the calculation of natural frequency for subsea piping with added mass?

Do we need to manually add the added mass on the lump mass at a certain node or it is automatically considered once Wave Loading is considered in the element?

Please share some tips.

Thanks & Warm Regards!!!

Thanks Michael for the link. It is very informative especially the CFD simulation (fluid-structure) interaction of beam and water.

That means, the added mass will need to be manually set based on some estimate, say the mass of fluid to be displaced by the pipe.

Just correct me if I have some wrong statement I've made.

Cheers!!

I have added a lump mass at each node of the element based from the weight of the displaced fluid (basically, by dividing the computed displaced fluid weight to the number of nodes which are equal spaced). It compares well with another software result.

Thanks all!!! Any other input is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!!
