I wish there were a button that would add +H to all load cases that aren't hanger, combination, or already having a +H.

I also wish there were a button that would remove +H to all load cases that aren't hanger, combination, but possesses a +H.

I suppose we could expand on this by also allowing F1-F9 or D1-D9 to be added/removed to all base load cases, as well.

If you end up adding or removing a spring or various boundary conditions from the model in various runs, this gets a bit tedious to push around.

I think this was previously discussed for other reasons but for a long long time we have always just left the hanger sizing cases and +H in the load cases so you don't have to use a different set of load cases if you add a spring or delete a spring. The hanger sizing and +H has no impact on a calc without a spring.

The only glitch is that for the older CII versions (I am still using CII 2014 since I been on this current project for over 5 years) is the output animation sequence was offset be 2 load cases, i.e., if you animate case 5 it is actually case 3. This may be OK on more current versions. I have only used the newer versions helping peers troubleshoot issues.

If you develop files with typical load cases (e.g. one with +H, one without +H) and save them in a folder you can easily import as you wish.

Dan,

Unfortunately, my role has moved from analyst to checker (i.e. fixer and updater), and getting a group of analysts to do the same thing for a variety of different scenarios is a lot like herding engineers.

Bob,

If adding hanger variables to load cases aren't impactful without hanger data, then I'd muse why it isn't default understood that all cases have +H without requiring input.

But I suppose someone might want to run W+T1+P1+H and W+T1+P1 in the same file, though I've never seen it.

In my office I made it so that +H is included in all sets of load cases, whether or not springs are used. And I make my load cases sets general enough that it's usable for the majority of the calcs in the project, if not all. Sure, some clients complain that my load cases are too long. The alternative is letting everybody formulate his/her own load cases and only include variables used in the calc. We'll just end up spending more time in the checking phase.
