Modeling a jacketed pipeline (7 core/internal pipes). Model was imported one pipeline at a time into CAESAR II via pcf file generated from Catia.

To model an internal support, we CNode the internal pipe to the jacket pipe. When we do this, the internal pipe shifts (coordinates change) automatically.

We had never encountered this issue before. Any help or insights would be appreciated. We are using Caesar II 2017. Please see attached picture and CAESAR II files.

We also tried generating manually, a simple model. Basically, a pipe routed in a U-shape.

When we CNode two joints together (joint 50 cnode to 20), the pipe also moves (see picture).

Previously, our jacketed pipeline only contains 1 core sharing the same centerline. So, this issue did not present itself.

Any help?

Usually these Node/CNode restraints truly join to points (e.g., a pipe joined to a beam in the Y direction) and you would want them coincident.

We have a switch to turn off that graphic relationship in the Configuration File:

We found the culprit. There is an option in the configuration editor:

Configuration | Geometry Directives | Input Items |
Connect Geometry Through CNodes

Location of nodes remain as-is when this option = False

Thanks Dave! I read your message after just discovering that option.

(I think we were typing at the same time.)

Apart from the original post, How did you change colors of core pipes differently? In Graphic settings, we can change colors of all type of pipes altogether. I am using CAESAR 2018.

One way to do it is to make use of Line Number feature. After assigning the line number, go to the list of line numbers. There you can change the color and even opacity of each line.
