Hi Richard,

Will you throw some light regarding the SIF multiplier for PPH(Polypropylene) Pipes.I did analysis with 0.75 but ASME B 31.3 is not applicable here. The client is asking to provide SIF Multiplier as 1.

SIFs & SSIs background in ASME B31 Codes are strictly correlated with METALLIC PIPING limit and failure states.
Such limit states (yielding, fatigue failure etc.) ARE NOT APPLICABLE TO NON-METALLIC PIPING.

For Non-metallic piping, the SIFs are actually pure Stress Concentration Factors, mostly dependent on fitting/component geometry.

For your HDPE piping, consult the dedicated literature - such as Plastics Pipe Institute.

Hi,

Thank you Dorin.

When we do analysis in casear II equivalent Multiplier factor for Sustained stress index is required.I am searching for a realistic factor.
