If as per API to 686 nozzle alignment is achieved in spring locked condition for centrifugal compressor or steam turbine nozzles, why very accurate spring unlocked alignment necessary? Mostly, ambient nozzle load is not high enough, when compared to opr load which is not verified physically. Y dir displacement can be verified in unlocked condition, but too much skin cutting on nozzle leg can make piping fatigue prone and due to too much enthusiasm, new engineers are destroying the reliability and pressure integrity; what do you follow - unlocked spring alignment per API to 686?
