Hi all,

for a extended tube-sheet gasketed at both channel and shell side, i should be able to skip UHX-9.5(a) formulae for UHX-9.5(c)? I am confused with the part in ASME when it says "no bolt loads applied to the extension" when its a flange extended tubesheet but i do need a lower thickness for my flange extension.

Also, i reckon that the check-box in PVelite tubesheet input is for this purpose? Do correct me if i am wrong and thank you!

The configuration d may have the tubesheet not extended or extended.
Obviously, no bolting load refers first to the "not extended".
A configuration d extended and having through holes will not see the bolt loading (as bending source in the tubesheet) in service, however it may be subject of bolting in case of hydrotest with the channel removed.

Hi Mariog,
thank you for replying. For my case, its a replacement job for tube bundle with pressure of 11.2Mpa tube side. shell side is 0.7 Mpa. It seems that its hard to argue that i have no bolt acting my tubesheet. My tubesheet required thickness is 106.5MM and my actual tubesheet is 155.7mm,actual tubesheet flanged extension is 128.6mm. Since my flanged extension is larger than my required tubesheet thickness, does this allow me to to skip UHX-9.5(a). Thank you and a pleasant day to you.
