While analyzing lines subjected to Vibration we come across supports specifically designed to counter vibration.These supports usually have a liner material that adsorbs the vibrating energy and thus helps in damping the pipe vibrations. Typical liners like VIBRATEK/ DAMPERX are commonly used
Can we account for the damping effect due to liner material in CAESAR II. This will help in correctly evaluating the vibrational behavior of the piping.
Pls suggest.

In both Harmonic and Time History analyses you can input your damping factor. Does your support vendor have a suggested value?

The damping effect will be occuring only at some isolated support locations. However a major portion of the pipe will be vibrating in AIR medium.
Are you suggesting that we use the damping material coefficient which is located at select points for the entire piping which is vibrating in AIR medium.
As far as the damping value is concerned , I could not find any such info.Do we have some reference value which we used.

I would contact those manufacturers. If they make an engineering product to dampen vibration they should have a value for you to use.
