Hello,

We are using CAESAR II for a project in Russia.
We got a vague approval from Owner to implement stress analysis as per ASME B31.3 with CAESAR II 2018.

I noticed that CAESAR II is "certificated" by GOST-R.
I am not very clear about the exact meaning of "certificated" here.
Can we consider that "complying with B31.3 with CAESAR II" is equivalent to "complying with GOST 32388"?

To be specific, below is two examples:
1. GOST 32388 requires "stability analysis" which i understand is not tackled in B31.3.
2. Criteria of allowable stress. e.g. Safety factor for seismic stress is 1 while in B31.3 it is 1.33 (occasional stress).

Really appreciate this forum and everyone here.
Thanks in advance

I believe it was in 2008 that a Russian company, wishing to use CAESAR II, collected that "certificate" which (from a governing body) allowed its use to evaluate "GOST" piping.

Thank you for your reply, Dave.
I read the news from here:
http://www.intergraph.com/global/jp/assets/pressreleases/2017/20170119_CIIrussia.aspx

It says also that from CaesarII 2017SP1, GOST-R material database is incorporated.
But I could not find it either in the material db nor the Guide.

Can you possibly advise please?

Regards,
FH

We provided a separate database for Russian materials that overlays the default database. You activate it by updating your configuration file.
Including this database will introduce materials in the 800's series.

Thank you, Dave and Richard.

In this database of material, I understand the allowable stress Sh is decided as per Russion norm.

As the Caesar II is not "implementing the GOST 32388", I guess is it still between owner and contractor to figure out the detailed method of "complying with GOST"?

For example, user should define the OCC load Factor as per the GOST in load case editor.

Is this understanding correct?

Thank you and regards,
FH

Frank,

I believe your confirmation with the owner is the correct course of action.
