When placing a component on a nozzle that is not at an orthogonal rotation the new component comes in only orthogonal positions instead of following the angle of the nozzle it's connecting to. I must be overlooking something simple, but does CADWorx have a simpler way to follow the angle of the nozzle rather than adjusting the UCS?

Place a flange or gasket first on the nozzle, then use the Design Grip (+) to add pipe at that angle. Probably need to turn ortho off for your first pick.

Thanks Matt, but I can't even get the flange aligned with the nozzle. Shouldn't just snap to the nozzle at the same orientation angle as the nozzle? When I pick the nozzle as the placement point it asks for a rotation for the new flange.

What about connecting to the flange using the auto-router?

Starting auto-router and picking the flange routes pipe from the nozzle (no flange), but it is at the correct angle. One more thing to mention - the flange will pop right on the nozzle if I place it in the model with the equipment, but if I try to XREF the equipment model into a piping model and try there it doesn't snap right on the nozzle at the correct orientation.

I come from a PDS background where the equipment is always in a reference model. Is CADWorx meant to run having equipment and piping in the same model?

No, it's the same way - equipment in individual models, XREF'd as necessary. Unfortunately there is no means to reconcile against the database to identify problems, like with PDS.

So what is preventing the flange from going onto the nozzle at the correct orientation in the case where the equipment is XREF'd?

Setting UseObjectsFromXrefs to Yes solves this problem.
