Some of our clients ask us to submit allowable loads and moments on nozzles instead of furnishing the actual or maximum expected loads and moments on nozzles to perform local load analysis.
Is it possible to get an out put showing the allowable loads/moments on nozzles in pv elite? We are not asking for a trial and error method.Hope someone has a solution to this problem.

Ranjit,

On a vessel-nozzle junction you have 3 forces and 3 moments. Hence, there can be an infinite number of combinations of these loads that can produce maximum stress.

Even if the program finds a maximum it may not be the best one for you. Depending upon the piping configuration attached to the nozzle, you may want the nozzle to have higher bending allowable than the shear allowable.

But, in the WRC 107 module within the CodeCalc part of PVElite, there is an option where the program will iterate to find a maximum force or a moment (based on user's selection) keeping other loads the same. This can shorten the time taken to reach one of the maximum load combinations. This feature is available if you enter the loads in WRC-107 convention.

Hope this helps.
