Someone may wonder in which way piping stress is related to the issue I raised!
Anyone who read 2017 hyd processing Tony Paulin's up to code article, will notice that we have made piping stress analysis a commodity!
Almost all the piping are analysed and even 3d modelled in a plant, however small the size is!
Rigorous analysis, where needed, are not given enough importance, due to high volume of whole activity! Peer review is mostly lacking! Structural and equipment vendor's interfaces are lightly considered.
Unless government insists on periodic review of pressure integrity checks, they are never performed regularly.
Why such things are happening is that, we are at present worshipping mediocrity in everything, and talent is not searched except in cricket, soccer, TV or politics, where the more fake the better!
Without discrimination, we talk about transients, fea etc so easily and judge everything as measurable data by same metrics of magenerism!
Each stress package contains large bore piping with small bore modelled together in giant size and volume to resist checks and audit.
With time, we are making stress analysis complex and less trustworthy!
The positive in the whole process is that we are discussing on the issue, at least!
We, the seekers of truth approach modern AI with open mind and expect our young aspirational ones not to turn believers fro truth seekers! People around want us to ensure pressure integrity in facilities we design and operate, not fool them with colourful graphics only!
Reg,
Sam
