I have a pressure vessel consisting of two 10" sch 80 tees weld together. I need to install a rectangular opening running along the length of the tees welded together. The length of the opening is greater than the diameter of the 10" pipe.
I've tried tne nozzle program with no luck.
Any suggestions?

Hello Marc

A rectangular opening is not included in the rules of the ASME Code. Once you have a slot as an opening, you have a problem as the long edges tend to open up under pressure, which is not the case with a normal pipe nozzle. The only suggestion I can make is to consider the long edge of the slot as a beam, which would be rienforced as a beam. As it is outside the rules of ASME, we have not included this configuration in our software.
