Dear Gerd,

Presently, there is not an option in PVElite to perform cost estimation of heat exchangers or other pressure equipment. As heat exchangers are complex pieces of equipment, it would seem that determining cost of construction would also be even more complex.

I am not entirely certain that I understand your second question although I will say that PVElite does address ASME Appendix AA in the CodeCalc section of the program. In last years addenda there were some changes to fixed and U-tube tubesheet calculations as well as the addition of floating tubesheets. In version 5 of PVElite, the changes to the fixed tubesheets were addressed, but the changes to the U-tubes were not due to time constraints. However, we have been working on this and within about two weeks time you should receive notice of a build that includes the addenda changes as well as the addition of floating tubesheet calculations per AA. It should also be noted that the results for required thickness are nearly identical between addendas.

There is this software called PV Elite Viewer. Is it a standalone or one of the old version of PV Elite module and is it still available ?

Thanks !

Dear Max,

Versions of PVElite prior to 5.0 had a separate executable program (pve3d.exe) that was a 3D viewer of the PVElite input file. The viewer ran independently of the main program pve.exe. As of version 5.0, the 3D viewer was integrated into the main portion of the program and as such is no longer available.

However, there may be other options available. In the latest build we incorporated a "save to html" option that will allow viewing of the model in 3D with your browser. Once the file is generated, you can send it to your client and they can then load and view it.
