I'm modifying a vessel nozzle from 4" to 6". There is a nozzle near the nozzle we plan on changing. While running PVElite I am getting a diameter limit clash. The top head is elliptical.

Can anyone explain? I find nothing in ASME Sect. VIII Div. 1. on spacing of nozzles on vessels.

Thanks

You can decrease limit of nozzle clash with increasing Head , Nozzle or pad Thichness.

Dear Sir,

In general, most pressure vessel codes mandate that non-isolated openings be checked for closeness. ASME is no exception. Please check ASME VIII-1 paragraphs UG-40 and UG-42 for information regarding limits of reinforcing and multiple openings. In some cases it may be necessary to modify the limits of reinforcement to obtain a viable geometry.
