I was wondering if it would be possible to include an "override" button within PVElite to manually enter a user identified "L" distance for external pressure calculations on cylindrical shells? Currently, I use CodeCalc to run a supplemental shell calculation with a modified "L" length due to reinforcement provided by jacket closures (i.e. jacket sealer, half-pipe, etc...) to determine a correct required thickness. In addition, is the capability of using PVElite to check the Mechanical Integrity (Remaining Safe Operating Life) of pressure vessels being considered for future versions? In the past, I sent a spreadsheet I use for this purpose to Coade for review. Hopefully, this functionality is being investigated... Thanks!

I suppose there are a number of areas where over ride buttons could be used, but the philosophy at COADE is that our software is driven by the dictates of the codes, except where the code is silent, in which case we use published and accepted methods (eg Zick, WRC107 etc).

In the case of cone to cylinder junctions, this problem is quite a difficult one, because it is impossible in some case to avoid violating the requirements of the code.
