BACKGROUND: I am running Codecalc Version 6.10 and doing a calculation on the required thickness of a rectangular flat welded head. The required thickness is a function of a "Z" factor. See ASME Div 1, UG-34, equation (3) and (4). The code states that "Z need not be greater than 2.5". This is stated right below equation (4).

PROBLEM: In the calculations I've run, Codecalc doesn't limit "Z" to a maximum of 2.5.

QUESTION: Is there a reason why ?

REQUEST: I would prefer Codecalc to be changed to reflect this limit or at least provide the user a choice.

Dear Sir,

On a review of the version 6.2 computer code, the program does indeed check for a maximum value of 2.5 for "Z". This may not have been true of the 6.1 version. If you wish, you can forward your input file (*.cci) to us for evaluation.
