Dear Richard/Dave,

For heat exchanger, With Anchor stiffness – Loads are very high— Ex: LOADS 1

I used NOZZLEPRO/WRC 297 nozzle flexibilities, then loads are reduced – Ex: LOADS 2

Both LOADS 1 & LOADS 2 exceed the allowable. I want to run NOZZLEPRO to check local stresses.

Now my question- can I use the LOADS 2 (NOZZLEPRO/WRC 297 nozzle flexibilities used) in NOZZLEPRO to check local stresses.

If I used LOADS 2 in NOZZLEPRO, I am using flexibility twice, in C-II and in NOZZLEPRO(in built flexibility used).

Please correct me, If I am wrong

No not really. You are using the lower (in this case more accurate) stiffnesses for the nozzle connection when you analyze the system in CAESAR II. This produces a set of loads (that are lower than if you had used a rigid nozzle). You take these loads and then perform the local analysis in NozzlePro - you are not double-dipping.

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your reply,

I am confused with your statement, " You are using the lower (in this case more accurate) flexibilities for the nozzle connection when you analyze the system in CAESAR II.""

When we use WRC 297 flexibility --- near nozzle flexibility will be higher ( this is more accurate)-- that is the reason loads will reduce.

Please clarify, If I am wrong

I meant lower stiffness - sorry.
