Hello,

Can anyone explain what happens when the buried model is generated.

Why in CAESAR II, the pipe density and fluid density becomes zero?

Regards,
GOW

This is discussed in earlier posts here, but:

1) You are simulating a continuous beam on an elastic foundation.
2) Assuming the trench is properly prepared, the pipe will be continuously supported.

3) Considering items 1 and 2 above, there will be no weight stresses. The only way to achieve this is to zero the density.

Buried pipe analysis is concerned with the behavior under thermal strain. We presented a CAU-X session on this several years ago. Contact Technical Support and we can e-mail you the PDF of that session.

In other words, due to the analysis method, if weight were still permitted, then the pipe would attempt to sag to the center of the earth.

A note of caution from personal experience: For very short lengths of buried pipe, i.e. existing earth wall penetrations, i would be circumspect to assume 0-weight is applicable, depending on construction.
