CAESAR II 2016 and...

I've started to use CII v2016 few weeks ago, jumping straight from v2013. Seems like some options are lost and old behavior transposed into new version during facelift. This is what I've noticed (if not mistaken):
1. Wind profile input window - Copy-Paste from excel is not possible any more 2. Wind profile input window - Save is not possible if all 4 inputs are not entered.
Here are some improvement suggestions that I would like to see in next version:
1. Copy-Paste/Import load cases from excel. This was possible in previous versions even thought I believe it was not intentional feature made by developers. It is still possible in 2016 but requires extra step. 2. Output window - CII should remember when user resizes output window. Remembered size should be maintained at least in same CII session if not permanently. Window is initially fixed to 80% and it always reverts to 80% size with the next opening even during same CII sessions. 3. Output window - Window where load cases are shown should be resizable horizontally. When load cases are with many loading's it cannot be seen completely. 4. Load case group edit - Window where load case are shown should be resizable horizontally. Same explanation as above in point 3. 5. CII takes control while in the RUN state. To me this is most frustrating behavior of CII. It is old as CII and I do not understand why is still maintained in new versions. Process should work in background without taking over computer every time calculation sequence begins and ends.

Wind: 1) Yes because the grid was removed in favor of individual edit boxes. We can look at reworking this - thank you for the comment.
2) This shouldn't be a problem, but we will investigate.
General: 1) Version 9 does allow cut & paste from Excel, but be sure to check all the load case settings (to the right). We are currently working on this and Version 10 will be improved in this area.
2) There is a reason for this behavior, but we can revisit this.
3) Thank you, good idea.
4) Agreed.
5) Yes this is true - as each EXE starts Windows yields control. We can look at improving this.

Thanks for your replay Richard.
I've notice many (too many) leftover .NTXT files in the folder where calculation files are run. What could be the cause?
Stress type cannot be assigned while in LC group edit? Is this intentional feature or...?
Otherwise, load case group edit is one of the best improvements ever.
Regards.

1) The .NTXT file is an input verification file - it is left out of the ". c 2" archive by design
2) Theoretically the Stress Type should be set before you get to the "group edit" view. Can you describe your workflow?

For example starting with existing file that I want to modify. Assigning stress type in LC mode can be useful when dealing with large number of load cases.

I have another issue. Not sure is it CAESAR II, Word setup or something else.
When exporting Flange PEQ output to Word following message appears:
OutP02 This method or property is not available because the Clipboard is empty or not valid
It exports couple of cases, sometimes even more but eventually message appears. I've never seen this message before.
By the way, how do I edit my profile information here? When I try to update my info it is asking me to enter CII license/disc info. I do not have this. Caesar II is installed by the IT company somewhere on their server.

Can you send the job that is producing that Flange PEQ message?
On your profile, just leave those fields blank.

Yes. I can hand over the job to our IT. I'll keep you updated.
When I try to save it asks my company e-mail address. UBB Message is "Company E-mail is a required field"
I enter email and it asks DVD installation serial number. UBB Message is "DVD installation Serial Number is a required field"

Just type anything in there. (You are supposed to have this information though.)

Here are couple of more suggestions. I am using CII 8.00 (2016). I apologize If this is already raised by someone.
1. Alt-SUS cases. It would be much better if this check could be done with only one Alt-SUS case and not with Alt-SUS case for each OPE case. Alt-SUS case could be placed after OPE cases and it would be matter of internal CAESAR II calculation to check all SUS stresses for each stiffness matrix. This would make load case build-up more easy and more logical as it was before Alt-SUS introduction. Output would show only max. calculated stress and corresponding case or list of max. calculated stress for each case.
2. Nozzle Lmt Check I would like to have option to choose in between local and global coordinates when entering Nozzle allowable. Having these in global coordinates will be more practical in most of the cases (my opinion only).

One more suggestion: When nozzle is overloaded, only value that is actually above allowable should be red, not all values in the case row.
