Hello everyone
I'm new on forum and I'm the fish in Caesar II.
I created an exapmples from Appendix S of ASME Code B31.3 ??
And I have a different results of course I know that it is depends from program from value of input data and value from the code but in first two the differences is less than 1%
In expample 3 this difference is higher so maybe someone have this exaple and can send me to comparision ??
Regards

Taking a few guesses...

It could be the coefficient of expansion for low carbon steels. The 2014 edition of B31.3 value is 3.7 in/100ft from 70 to 500F; before that it was 3.62 in/100ft.

If your sustained case results match the listed values and only your expansion case seems off, this may fix the mismatch. Use what clues are provided to narrow down your probable cause of the difference.

Thanks a lot David for Your quick answer.
I think that this difference can cause a different results value.
Maybe You have this example created in CII ??
I will be very gratefully for Your help.
Regards

Give this a try first...
The temperature field can accept other data than temperature. If you type in a number that is less than 0.5 (by default), CAESAR II will interpret the data as strain (inches/inch or mm/mm) rather than temperature.
I believe, currently, your CAESAR II model will show a strain of 0.001414 for the operating temperature. If you replace those temperatures (121C or 250F) with 0.001348 you should be able to match the Appendix S values.

I just updated the strains. The previous values (0.001224 & 0.001168, respectively) were based on an ambient temperature of 70F and this model has an ambient temperature of 40F.

Okey
When I change the value for yours the CII give me only a value with 4 places after dot. As I understand it is depends from UNIT file.
I used unit file created by me !
But I need one more infromation ?
You use the same material like in this example A53 Grade B because I have a similar values like You but for LOW CARBON material from material base !
Thank for help

While the display of strain shows only four digits beyond the decimal point, the program uses your six digits in the analysis.

I have sent a PDF of the CAESAR II analysis of the B31.3 Appendix S examples to your e-mail address.
