I was checking the B16.5 Flanges as per ASME VIII method. I found that calculation shows failure for some flanges of 900 rating when design pressure is considered as rated pressure and ZERO moments and forces are applied. Please find attached results summary and caesar output report and let me know the reason for the same.
My doubt is if B16.5 Flanges are not able to withstand rated pressure as defined in B16.5 than how did the dimensions were arrived? Is there any calculation which supports the design of B16.5 flanges because clearly few of them are not acceptable as per ASME VIII method.
I am performing flange leakage of 14 " 300# flange at -67 degree Celsius using pressure equivalent method using CII module.
My question is in Asme 16.5 pressure temperature rating table 2-2.1 & 2-2.3 for A182 GR 304/304L min temperature given is -29 degree C as against CII uses this same value of pressure at -29 for flange leakage check at temperature of -67 degree C.
Is this correct or I am missing something.
If I am missing something can you guide me on same.

Does B16.5 say you cannot use the flange below -29C? I believe the -29C limit implies that the allowed pressure does not continue to INCREASE below -29C. In my opinion, P at -29C is the same P at -67C.
