Hi Richard / Dave / All stress eng,

Is it possible to model super heater coils in Caesar in order to get the reactions at supporting brackets ? I found some discussion which was back in 2009, Richard mentioned about a COIL model.

Yes, you can model coils in CAESAR II.

Looking down the coil you see just the circle. Create four perpendicular tangents around that circle - this will be the pipe routing (four 90 degree bends make one revolution). Add a dimension in a direction perpendicular to the circle to give it pitch. Duplicate, renumber and paste to add the next loop around.

If you have any branches or supports on the coil, I suggest you add additional straight tangents to intersect the coil where ever these points occur. This will place a node on the coil (rather than just tangent intersections) and will keep the plot looking nice.
