Hi,
I`m not aware of PV-Elite Software & following are my queries ,

Q.No-1. Can I use PV-Elite for the Design of Saddle Support used for Pipes?

Q.No-2. If I have to put an Anchor Support(i.e Saddle Support as an Anchor)then is there any way to put all Fx,y,z & Mx,My,Mz in PV-Elite? ( I found one option of putting external Forces & Moments ( based on Stress Analysis Results) but for Moments in Y-Direction; it is not taking it gives My = 0 . Can any body Ans this? )

Please advise/ suggest .
Rg,
MVS

PV Elite could be used to design saddle supports for pipes. The analysis ultimately comes down to resolving all the loads into an equivalent vertical force on the saddle (Q).

So if you can end up with the Q you want by manipulating the input, you can use PV Elite to design the saddle support.

Hi Dave ,Thanks for the Reply.

But when we design the Pipe Stanchion Support as an Anchor , we do consider all Forces & Moments ( or External Loadings) to check local Stresses at weld attachment.

As you said that the analysis ultimately comes down to resolving all the loads into an equivalent vertical force on the saddle (Q) is understood.

Take one example,
A Pipe Saddle Support with External Loading ,FY=Vertical Force as well FX= lateral/Guiding Force. We can put those in PV-Elite. I observed For effect of FY force is significant as compared with the FX ( lateral/ Guiding). For less value of FX less impact on Saddle design ( means to redesign )but after certain higher magnitudes ( if it is failing)
we need redesign the saddle.
Now, suppose the Similar to FX Force component if the moment in Y- Direction ( MY)is causing the failure for my Pipe Stanchion Support & I want to Check its impact the on Saddle. Then is there any way to put (MY) in PV-Elite?

Does PV-Elite allows to add user defined moments for saddle analysis with force and moment tool.

Please Clarify.

With Regards,
MVS

Hi MVS,

In the saddle dialog itself (not the Force/Moment dialog), there is an option to enter an applied moment to the saddle. Perhaps this is what you are looking for.

Thanks Scott,

Can we use the Detail List option from the Auxiliary menu to put an External Loads?
