Dear All,

Can anyone tell me how to apply class 1 branch flexibility in C-II for branch flexibility.

Also is it necessary to do modelling of branch from big size header as rigid element when you apply class 1 branch flexibility.

Take look at the configuration file setting for that purpose:

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your reply.
Can we do the modelling of branch from big size header (24" & above) as rigid element equal to the diameter of header when you apply class 1 branch flexibility ?

Please read the Help associated with the configuration switch shown above.
The program will automatically use such a rigid element (internally, this is even more rigid than your rigid piping element) when these flexibilities are used.

Replying to this with another question, as it is a recent thread.

I'm working with a model right now that fails the stress analysis at a 16"x 48" reinforced connection. When I use the class 1 branch flexibility, the stresses are significantly reduced for this node. The branch itself satisfies the conditions required for the use of this option, but my question is regarding the use of this option within B31.8. I have looked through B31.8 and through the forum and did not find anything saying it could not be used.

Does anyone know of a reason where the use of Class 1 Branch Flexibility within Caesar is not allowed for a B31.8 system?
